Mehrangarh Fort!

Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is on the top of a hill, guarded by massive walls. It was constructed by Rao Jodha in the 1450s. The fort has opulent palaces such as Sheesh Mahal and Phool Mahal and several galleries to display royal artefacts. This majestic structure is considered one of the largest forts in the country. It has seven entry gates, each constructed to commemorate a different event. And its architectural brilliance draws tourists and history enthusiasts from around the world.

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park!

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park is a biodiversity park near Mehrangarh Fort. It’s said to be the wish of Maharaja Umaid Singh to convert this dry land into nature’s paradise. But the park was built only in 2006, long after his death. It’s built on a large wasteland, showcasing the unique flora and fauna of the desert. This rocky park is one of the few places where you can see the real terrain and vegetation of the Thar Desert in its natural environment.

Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. It’s a beautiful piece of architecture placed amidst serene surroundings. It's one of the popular places to visit in Jodhpur near Fort Mehrangarh. The monument, made of white marble, is considered one of the finest creations in India. Toorji Ka Jhalra!

Toorji Ka Jhalara, as it is locally known, is an 18th-century stepwell built by the queen of Jodhpur, Maharani Toorji. This stepwell, or the 'jhalra', was built in the 1740s by a queen of Maharaja Abhay Singh to keep up with an age-old tradition in Jodhpur of constructing step wells or step-ponds by the queens or royal ladies. The stunning architectural design is a great example of the range of styles that were popular in the region during the era. Its seven stories feature various designs, from the upper well's carved stone and marble arches to the intricate stone carvings on the walls.

Phool Mahal Palace!

The Phool Mahal is a beautifully decorated hall in the Mehrangarh fort, Jodhpur. The hall probably served the purpose of a pleasure dome of the Maharajas, and the female dancers used to stay here. Accordingly the room was made to look as beautiful as a magnificent flower, which earned it the name Phool mahal. The ceiling has golden filigree work, for which it is said, gold was brought from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There are also some beautiful portraits and paintings, especially the raga mala series, and furniture from the British period to enhance the glory of the room.

Built by Henry Vaughan Lanchester under the reign of Maharaja Umed Singhji, the Sardar Government Museum exhibits a vast collection of 400 stone sculptures, thousands of miniature paintings, terracotta artworks, ancient inscriptions, coins, and a number of miscellaneous objects that are simply astonishing. For military buffs there is a separate section completely dedicated to military memorabilia that exhibits tools, weapons, memorials, and brass-wooden models.
